A New Chapter Begins

Ian and Mariana Nel moved onto the smallholding east of Pretoria, drawn by its tranquility and the wide Highveld skies. Living on the land, they began to understand its rhythms — the golden hour sunsets, the morning mist, the friendly donkeys that would greet them at the fence.

The Cottage Opens

Noticing the high concentration of wedding venues in the area — and the lack of quality, personal accommodation nearby — Ian and Mariana renovated the existing cottage on the property and welcomed their first guests. Word spread quickly: this was somewhere special.

The Stables Are Transformed

The old, unused horse stables became four beautifully styled guest rooms — rustic in character, luxurious in comfort. Each room was designed with care: quality linen, warm tones, en-suite bathrooms, and thoughtful details that guests still rave about years later.

What Our Guests Say

“I am yet to find a better host, a room that matches the advertised photos and the level of hospitality we experienced at Soetwaters. They should have a permanent 5 star on their gate!”
